Sustainability is in our DNA
At Panelto Foods, our journey began with a passion for the simple, artisanal bread-making traditions of rural Italy: where bread, born from the land, sustained local communities. This heritage inspires everything we do today.

Panelto Foods is proud to be an Origin Green certified site, part of the world’s only national food and drink sustainability program. This certification empowers us to set and achieve measurable sustainability goals that protect the environment and support local communities.
By embracing sustainable food production, we take responsibility for producing safe, nutritious food in a way that preserves our natural resources and enhances quality of life for present and future generations.
We have developed a Panelto Foods-specific plan within the Origin Green framework to help us achieve our sustainability goals. This plan challenges us with clear, time-sensitive targets, ensuring that every team member is fully committed and engaged in reaching our sustainability objectives.

We believe our people are our greatest asset. To maintain, inspire, reward, and develop this invaluable resource, we invest in initiatives like university scholarships, leadership development, education assistance for employees and their families, and recognition programs.
Additionally, we host company events to strengthen team spirit, run an Employee Wellness Programme, and actively contribute to our local community.

Panelto Foods aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 15% per product by 2025. To achieve this, we’ve invested in smart energy initiatives, including a site-wide Energy Monitoring System to track and control electricity and gas usage, energy-efficient technologies, and solar panels generating onsite green electricity.
Additionally, we are continuously working to reduce gas consumption in our ovens and are committed to purchasing green electricity.

We prioritise responsible sourcing by ethically and sustainably procuring products. We source raw materials exclusively from BRC-accredited sites and work with suppliers certified by the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI).
Our cardboard is FSC/PEFC accredited, and we purchase green energy. As an RSPO-certified member, we use only segregated palm oil. Additionally, all our raw ingredients are free from preservatives and additives, supporting our commitment to clean label transparency.

Reducing food waste is key to reducing impact on climate change. Currently, 99.8% of our waste is repurposed as animal feed, and we’re working to eliminate the remaining 0.2%.
Last year, we reduced food waste by 326 tonnes through new technology, and we aim for a further 10% reduction in this year. Having made a committment to the EPA Food Waste Charter, we align with SDG target 12.3 to halve food waste by 2030.
